European Study of Digitalised Violence Against Women
Understanding the scale, impact and lived experiences of online and technology-enabled violence against women across Europe
Women’s Online Wellbeing (WOW) is a three-year European research project exploring how digital technologies are reshaping violence against women.
We study experiences to understand their impact on women’s wellbeing across Europe, these include:
Online harassment
Image-based abuse
Cyberstalking
Deepfakes
WOW is a collaboration between researchers in the UK, Ireland, Sweden, Spain and Poland.
If you’ve been affected by digitalised abuse or online harm, you’re not alone. Support and safety information is available on our If You Need Support pages.
What We Do
-

Europe-wide research
We’re conducting one of the largest surveys in Europe on digitalised violence against women.
-

Lived experiences
We work with LGBTQIA+ people, Black and minority ethnic women and young women to understand their experiences in depth.
-

Support & responses
We explore how services, organisations and police respond to digitalised violence — and what survivors need.
-

Public resources
We produce accessible reports, infographics, and educational materials.
Why This Work Matters
Digitalised violence against women is increasing rapidly, affecting women’s safety, mental health, relationships and ability to participate online. Evidence across Europe remains limited, and the WOW project addresses this gap by bringing together researchers, practitioners and communities across five countries.
Want to be kept updated about opportunities to take part?
We welcome interest from women across Europe in our upcoming survey and interview studies. Project updates will be shared here as the work progresses. If you’d like to be kept informed, please register your interest using our contact form.
